Assistant Enforcement Officer=>Enforcement Officer in 4-5 years

Assistant in CSS =>SO (A Group-B Gazetted Officer post)=>Joint Secretary

For Assistant Audit Officer, Audit Officer => Senior Audit Officer => Deputy Accountant General => Senior Deputy Accountant General.

For Inspector (Examiner), Appraiser => Assistant Commissioner => Deputy Commissioner => Commissioner.

For Income Tax Inspector, Income Tax Officer  => Assistant Commissioner => Deputy Commissioner => Commissioner. The 1st promotion will be after completing 8 years of service.

For Inspector (Central Excise) (CBEC) and Inspector (Preventive Officer) (CBEC), Superintendent => Assistant Commissioner => Deputy Commissioner => Commissioner. The 1st promotion comes after completing 8 years of service and clearing departmental exam.

For Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO), Enforcement Officer => Assistant Director => Deputy Director => Director. There is no fixed promotion period for this post.

For Assistant (Central Vigilance Commission), Sectional officer => Undersecretary => Deputy Secretary => Director.

For Assistant in AFHQ, Section Officer => Deputy Director => Joint Director => Director => Principal Director.

Social status: As a Central Government employee, you’ll have a dignified position in the society. You will be part of the decision making process of the Government and may become a gazetted officer one day.
