Posted on January 21, 2019 by Successlynk

IBPS clerk main examination is around the corner and many aspirants are preparing hard to crack the exam. First know the exam pattern and syllabus. This will help to give you a clear understanding of the structure of the paper, the important topics and the difficulty level of the questions, and make a preparation plan. But unless you make some smart moves, you will not be ahead of others. So let us now look at the key strategies to beat the competition in the IBPS Bank Clerk CWE Mains Exam.

1. Analyse the exam before making a preparation plan: There are five sections in the IBPS clerk main examination: English language, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness with respect to banking. Each section has 40 questions with sectional timing, but the marks division varies for each section. Know the Region-wise official cut-off of different categories decided by the conducting body. There is negative marking in all sections, but no penalty for unanswered questions.

2. Make your study interesting: Set your own timetable to follow for your study. Pick any subject for which you are more concerned about. Make your own notes. Self-made notes are better than any notes given by an institute. Make it as colorful as possible, use sketches or drawings or prepare it in a way to remember well. Allot time for revision and practice. Watch videos related to your topics and participate in forum discussions. Read inspirational books. Be creative in your study to remember the concept and enjoy the preparation.

3. Prepare for all sections smartly: You have General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude, and Quantitative Aptitude sections in the Mains. For General Awareness, focus on Banking news, current rates, banking rules and regulations, KYC, current economic plans and policies, finance, budget, etc. Start making notes from the start of your preparation. Check the related sites for correct information. Get access to newspapers and magazines from the last six months and note down the important events. For Computer Aptitude, make notes on Internet and e-mail, Networking, Operating system, Microsoft applications and keyboard shortcuts. Do some practical work on computer on these topics. For Quants, learn how to apply formulas and practice them regularly. Practice shortcuts and tricks. Be thorough in English Grammar. When you read newspapers, write down new words. Find their meanings, synonyms, and antonyms. This will increase your vocabulary and reading speed. For Reasoning section, focus on Syllogism, Seating Arrangement, and Mathematical Inequality. Solve at least 20 to 30 questions from all topics every day. Take time to solve previous year papers. For General Awareness, get strong in Static GK. Note the daily Current Affairs.

4. Take mock tests: Taking mock tests is an essential part of your preparation for the exam. Take these tests every day as the scheduled time for the examination. This will help you to train your mind to be more alert and attentive during that particular time of the day. Take up practice tests and mock tests from SuccessLynk and take feedback. You will know your strongest areas. In your strongest areas, you will be able to score highest accuracy, marks in less time. Consider the weight-age of the topics and prepare accordingly. Working on your mistakes after every test will help you improve your score. For every topic you complete, take sectional tests. For questions that are challenging or difficult, spend more time practicing them.

5. Focus on speed and accuracy: Try to answer the questions in a short period. For this, you need to be first thorough with the concepts and then be good at applying shortcuts and tricks. Trying to apply shortcuts without grip on concepts will do you no good. Revise more.

Last but not least, take care of your well-being. Relax the day before the exam. Keep your confidence high. You have prepared well and will surely crack the exam. All the best!
