Combined Defense Services (CDS) is the exam conducted by the Union service public commission (UPSC) for recruiting the officer in the Indian armed forces. Young men and women can join any of the three wings of the Indian Defense Services – Indian Army, Indian Air Force or Indian Navy.

Know the qualification, age limit, marital status and other eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. Check SuccessLynk site for exam pattern, syllabus, important dates and updated information. Remember that CDS exam competition level is increasing drastically year after year. There are many aspirants who are preparing well; so follow these tips to gain more advantage over others.

1. Know the syllabus and exam pattern first: Many aspirants who are good in general mathematics, English and GK tend to overlook the syllabus of CDS exam. But scan first the whole CDS exam syllabus. Filter out the topics which you are 100% confident. Identify the topics which you are not really confident and start focusing on them.

2. Revise before starting your preparation: The best strategy to follow while preparing is recalling the chapters you learnt since you were in class 10th. Then you will grasp these topics faster and will be covering almost half the syllabus. Now for the rest of the topics, start preparing for the ones that require less time.

3. Use various sources: Check SuccessLynk blog to know the standard books you need to refer. Also, discover more things related to CDS exam preparation. Refer e-books, watch videos and blogs related to subject, participate in online group discussions etc.

4. Make your study interesting: Be creative in your study to make it interesting. Make newspaper reading a habit. Read magazines, journals, books and novels to improve English language, vocabulary and grammar and to enhance GK. Note the current affairs and important events. Write down important formulas, short cut tricks and theorems in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Use audios videos in your study. Take advises from experts.

5. Manage your time well: Manage your time well both during your preparation and during the exam. Prepare a daily routine chart and never postpone your studies. Make a work plan. Decide what you have to do in first week, how you have to start and review what you have studied in the past week. Journal your progress. This will keep you on track. While practicing, set time limit and try to complete the questions within that duration.

6. Practice mock tests and previous question papers: Practice is most important in your preparation. Look at the various mock tests and practice tests SuccessLynk is offering. Take up these tests that will truly help you have a cutting edge over others.

7. Be away from all sorts of distractions: Keep away from social media like Facebook, twitter etc. Be away from partying as this is the crucial time for you to focus on your preparation. Do not interact with negative people. If you have any personal problems, take the help of a trusted family member or friend and try to solve it after your exam.

8. Take care of your well-being: Your physical and mental well-being is of utmost importance in this crucial time. So eat healthy, nutritious, simple and light, preferably home cooked food. Avoid all sorts of junk and street food. Do some light exercises and follow relaxing techniques like slow breathing or listening to soothing music during breaks.

Your hard work and perseverance will definitely take you to new heights. All the best!
