Posted on October 16, 2018 by Successlynk

IBPS conducts IBPS RRB Exam for the recruitment of candidates in Regional Rural Banks every year. If you intend to get into Banking sector, here are the top tips to prepare for the mains exam.

  1. Start early: There are many candidates who are aspiring to join the Banking sector by securing a job in RRBs. However, most of them start preparing only for prelims exam and they think that they will prepare for the mains only after qualifying the prelims. But with this approach, there will be limited time for the mains. The mains exam is tougher than prelims. Hence, you need to prepare for the mains from the beginning, along with the prelims.
  2. Know the exam: The syllabus of mains is vast. You need to prepare for Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, English Language/ Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge sections. Check SuccessLynk portal for the syllabus, exam pattern, cut-offs, important dates and much more.
  3. Prepare well: Use a different strategy to prepare for each section. For Reasoning, practice books as well as online sources. Take the test series as they are extremely helpful. A variety of questions are covered and you can prepare well for the exam for the different levels of difficulty of questions. For Quants, be clear on basics and practice continuously. For GK, reading the newspaper daily for current affairs is a must. Read standard books for static GK. Refer online sources to increase your Banking awareness. Check the site of Reserve Bank of India for information. For computers, read books and get enough practice on software such as MS Office. Be creative to make your preparation interesting and exciting.
  4. Focus on accuracy and speed: Be good in the concepts. Prepare a timetable and cover all the topics. At the end of each topic, have enough practice. That will reinforce your learning and also increase your speed and accuracy. You will also be able to manage your time well during the exam. Also, practice previous years question papers. You will get used to the exam and know the key topics and the type of questions asked.
  5. Take mock tests: In any competitive exam, you need to score better than others to position yourself well. Mock tests help you to have an edge over others. Analyse your performance after every test to know your strengths and weak areas. Make changes in your study accordingly and try to complete your next exam in lesser time. This way you will get accustomed to the exam pattern and will be able to manage your time well. Mock tests also help you to score better.
