A bank clerk plays a key role in the smooth functioning of the bank. Salary and allowances: During training period, your salary will not be more than Rs. 10000. However, after recruitment into various banks your salary will change according to the bank policy. The approximate salary with Basic Pay and allowances are given below.
- Basic Pay is Rs.11765
- Special Allowance is Rs.911.79
- Dearness Allowance (DA) is revised quarterly and is based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) as declared by the banks. Thus DA can go up with higher CPI and vice versa. It is approximately Rs.5311.58.
- House Rent Allowance (HRA) can be 8.50%, 7.50% or 6.50% and depends on the place of posting. It is approximately Rs.1176.5.
- Gross salary is between Rs.19472 and Rs.19589 depending on the area of posting.
- Transport Allowance is Rs.425.
- The annual Medical Allowance is fixed at Rs.2000.

Growth and promotion: After selection, you will be undergoing training. Clerk –> Officer –> Senior Officer –> Assistant Manager –> Senior Manager –> Chief Manager –> Assistant General Manager (AGM) –> Deputy General Manager (DGM) –> General Manager (GM) –> Executive Director (ED) –> Chairman and Managing Director (CMD)

Holidays and leaves: Apart from Sundays, the 2nd and 4th Saturdays are also holidays. You’ll get twelve days’ casual leave; fifteen days sick leave per year and thirty days’ privilege leave per year. This is apart from the holidays announced by the Government of the state.
Relaxed work timings: You report at the branch/office by 10.00 A.M. in the morning and leave by 5.00 P.M. in the evening. When there is no crowd, there is lesser work.
