The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced Common Written Exam (CWE) for the post of Specialist Officer (SO). It is an online exam conducted in multiple locations across the country.
If you like challenging work, then the post of SO suits you. You’ll have an excellent career with a good salary. The different posts are:
- T. Officer (Scale-I)
- Agricultural Field Officer (Scale-I)
- Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I)
- Law Officer (Scale-I)
- HR/Personnel Officer (Scale-I)
- Marketing Officer (Scale-I)
Allowances
Apart from salary, there will be allowances such as:
- Dearness allowance
- Special allowance
- HRA
- City compensatory allowance
- PF contribution

So if you are interested to pursue a career in a particular field, then it’s a good opportunity for you to learn and grow. However, if General Banking interests you, then you can go for it without any change in the position or salary. You’ll still have job security.
Job location
Specialist Officers are mostly posted in urban areas/metro cities. Hence if you prefer cities than rural areas, then this job is for you.
Promotion
Specialist Officers have targets and are periodically reviewed by their senior officers. Promotions are based on the performance. The hierarchy is:
General Manager (Top Management – Scale 7)
↓
Deputy General Manager (Top Management – Scale 6)
↓
Assistant General Manager (Senior Management – Scale 5)
↓
Chief Manager (Senior Management – Scale 4)
↓
Senior Manager – (Middle Management – Scale 3)
↓
Manager – (Junior Management – Scale 2)
↓
Officer / Assistant Manager (Junior Management – Scale 1)
