- Degree after training: Once you are done with thetraining, you will receive a B.Sc /B.Sc (computer) /B.A degree from The Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
- Recognition: After the training, you will be given Lieutenant Rank in Indian Army. If in Air Force, you will be given provisional commission in the rank of Flying Officer. If you are a Naval cadet, you will be selected for Executive, Engineering and Electrical Branches of the Navy. You’ll be promoted to the rank of Midshipmen.
- Job security: Obviously you will get a good Government job in Indian army, navy or air force with good pay and other allowances. You’ll have job security and surety of salary every month.
- Salary and allowances: The salary starts from Rs. 60–70 thousand which is very rewarding. You’ll also get other allowances like Dearness Allowances (DA), Travel Allowance (TA), Uniform Allowance, UPSC NDA Kit maintenance allowance, UPSC NDA Field Area Allowance etc.
- Extra allowances and facilities: Bases on the field areas that the UPSC NDA Officers are posted to, they will get extra allowances such as The Compensatory Highly active field allowance, Compensatory Field Area Allowance, Compensatory Modified Field Area Allowance etc. If they are posted to high altitude areas like 9,000 ft. and above they get an extra High Altitude Allowance. You’ll also have festive bonus.
- Qualification grant: UPSC NDA Qualification grant of INR 6000, 9000, 15000 or 20,000 is given as per the qualification of the officers. The grant according to the Officer rank is:
- Senior Aviation Instructor Class II– Rs. 280 p.m.
- Senior Aviation Instructor Class I – Rs. 400 p.m.
- Aviators having Green Card– Rs.280/- p.m.
- Aviators having Master Green Card – Rs. 400 p.m.
- Master Aviation Instructor – Rs. 500 p.m.
- Chance to go abroad: In your life time, at least once you’ll get a chance to go to some foreign country as part of Indian Army for the United Nation for a period of 6 months. Apart from your normal salary, you’ll get salary from UN paid and it will be a huge amount.
- Benefits after retirement: Post retirement, an NDA officer gets many benefits. Some of them are you’ll have pension at 50% of last payment, death cum retirement gratuity, free medical treatment for self and dependents, canteen facilities, insurance coverage, resettlement opportunities etc.
