You will have a written exam. Qualified candidates are called for the Interview (Intelligence and Personality Test) by the Service Selection Board (SSB). Then you’ll have to pass a medical test. CDSE Exam is conducted twice a year, Exam (I) in February and Exam (II) in November. Let’s look at the top tips to succeed in the exam.

Get to know the subject syllabus, cut-off marks, exam pattern and duration. Check SuccessLynk portal for these details, latest updates, important dates and much more.

2. Have a separate strategy for each subject: Next know how to study for CDS Exam. You’ll have to write English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics papers. Have separate strategy for the three subjects. Prepare for those subjects on which you have a good hold.

For English, focus on Grammar and Vocabulary questions. Develop the habit of reading. Enhance your English writing, speaking and listening habits. Learn new words every day. Also, learn their antonyms and synonyms and know how to use them in sentences. Solve previous question papers.

For GK, prepare questions from the constitution, economy, politics, navy and military, current affairs etc. Read Newspapers daily and magazines regularly. Read C.D.S GK preparation books. Read basics from chemistry, physics, biology and geography and history. Prepare brief notes. Check previous question papers and see the pattern of occurrence of the questions.

For Mathematics, first master the important formulas and theorems. The standard of the question paper is almost similar to matriculation. Focus on Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry etc. Practice more questions. Solve problems from mensuration, speed distance and time, number system, simplification, ratio-proportion, logarithm, profit loss and discount, simple interest and compound interest etc.

Track your time and the number of questions attempted. This will enhance your time management during the exam. If you are not able to solve any question, clear your doubts from your books, teachers or friends.

4. Have a peer group: If you are in a group of aspirants, it will be of immense help. Discuss what you learned with your friends and co-aspirants. You may learn from them or may teach them something you learnt. This knowledge exchange will be of immense help and you will be supportive for each other.

5. Avoid silly mistakes: On the exam day, reach the examination centre on time. Carry all the required documents such as the admit card, photographs etc. and stationery items. Do not carry anything that is NOT allowed. Take time to check all your answers before submitting the paper.

Let your hard work propel you to a speed so fast that Good Luck has no choice but to ride with a winner like you. All the best!
